Urania Propitia

This Urania Propitia is a stunningly made renaissance-style compendium with compass and foldable gnomon as sundial. It was designed in honour of Maria Cunitz, one of the first women astronomers, her book "Urania propitia" which was published in 1650, became very famous and she herself earned the nickname: "she who is closest to the muse of Astronomy ".

Made from brass, the piece measures 28 mm height, 84 mm diameter and weighs 280g
