Basic gyroscope

I bought the gyroscope for demonstration purposes at an engineering weekend that I am involved with. The gyroscope looks substantial with a nicely weighted rotor, my reasons for buying it. However I have been disappointed with the plastic gimbal framework which has too much movement and easily breaks into its component parts if too much pressure is applied when starting the gyro with the pull-string. I have strengthened the frame by using cable ties, but this is not something I would have expected to do.

Bought this for my grandson, his Mum wondered what it was, I cannot believe I didn’t introduce it to her when she was young! Both blown away with the magic of it.

Very difficult feeding string through hole to start it spinning.
