About the Us 2.5T 6x6 Fuel Truck

The 2 1/2ton fuel truck was a vital cog in the U.S. military machine during WWII, supporting the American drive for air supremacy with its work refuelling and oiling a whole manner of aircraft. In fact, it was a variant of a commonly-used 2 1/2ton truck that had its cargo bed replaced with a massive tank and pump mechanism, the side of the tank featured doors which allowed the crew access to pump the fuel.

It was typically crewed by 2, featured 6-wheel drive which allowed it to tackle poor surfaces, and was powered by a 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine. It particularly proved its worth once the U.S. began to capture airfields near the front line without refuelling facilities.

About the Model

• This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit of the U.S. 2 1/2ton fuel truck.
• Length: 136mm, width: 52mm.
• The model accurately captures the truck's large fuel tank and hard-top cab.
• The tank-side doors can be assembled in closed or open position, and parts are also included to depict the hose reel, with vinyl tubing and enamel wire to recreate the hose itself.
• Separate parts are included to recreate the tank-front pump.
• Comes with 2 figures depicted in the act of refuelling, and also features 2 marking options for USAF vehicles.

As with all our Tamiya model kits, instructions are clear and concise, in order to allow the modeller to build a detailed model with relative ease.
