This French shell-shaped horizontal dial has been made for use at 50º latitude. The piece is a replica of a dial circa 1800. On the hour scale, the hour lines radiate from the Sun’s face. In the centre, there is a circular hole for the missing gnomon.

The original, made of copper, is at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London.

Attention to detail, historical interest and its beautiful design is brought to life in this elegant ring dial.

This instrument allows you to carry around a fantastic piece of historic science and represents a time of exploration and astronomical wonder.
