Astromedia The Stirling Engine Construction Kit

$24.00

Curious Minds Did You Know: The Stirling engine was initially intended to rival the steam engine but was instead primarily used for low power domestic uses.

With this beautiful cardboard kit from Astromedia you can build your very own Stirling Engine, which runs on hot water for up to 60 minutes! The Stirling engine was invented by the Scottish engineer Robert Stirling in 1816. It works by externally heating the engine externally causing the gases inside to heat and expand. This gas then moves to a different part of the engine and a piston takes heat energy from the gas which can then be converted to mechanical power. The kit has everything you need to assemble the Engine, including an instruction leaflet explaining the history of the Stirling Engine and a few tips on how to make it run longer!
