Vintage Phillip Harris Resistance Coil P 7582 - 5Ω

£ 9.00
Wire-wound resistors are made by having a metal wire wound round a non conductive core. Each end of the wire is then attached to terminals on either side of the core. The wire is typically protected by a layer of paint or other material to form a hard, protective surface.
The advantages to wire-wound resistors are typically in the high thermal resistance of over 400 degree centigrade. Unfortunately, they also have the effect of having a greater inductance than other resistors, which can be mitigated by winding the wire in an alternating direction.
This resistance coil is made by Phillip Harris and is rated for 5ohms. It has a clear plastic acrylic casing with the ends made from Bakelite. In good condition.
