Curious Minds Did You Know? Palaeontologists have named an extinct bandicoot from the Miocene of Australia after the Sony PlayStation game character, Crash bandicoot!
Bandicoots are small omnivorous marsupials. They tend to be endemic to Oceanian countries. The word bandicoot is an English version of a word from the Telegu language of south India which translates to "pig-rat." The small figurine is a fine addition to any marsupial collection.
Bandicoots are currently an endangered species. For more information about how you can help protect endangered species visit the WWF website.
