Preserving & Canning Jars

Why are we stocking reusable glass jars? Well, because we as a family have changed how we live in response to our own concerns about the pressures our environment faces. We're actively moving away from buying foods wrapped in plastic and making a concerted effort to live a zero-waste lifestyle (we've a long way to go). One of the biggest changes we've made is to begin to grow and preserve some of our own food, including of course the famous Curious Minds Honey from our beehives. Where we cannot grow our own (we live in a suburban setting, it poses challenges!), we are buying from small scale, local producers who grow foods we cannot, such as meat and milk. We are trying to buy in season, which means learning to preserve for the hungry months. And that's where the Weck Jars come into the story. They're by far the eco-friendliest preserving jars we've come across, because they don't use a one-time-use metal canning lid, but instead use natural rubber seals and reusable clips. They're also by far and away the most beautiful jars and if you have shelves full of homemade preserves in beautiful Weck Jars, you know life is good!
