Did you know? The mother of all steam engines was a ball driven by steam invented in the 1st Century AD. by Hero of Alexandria (see Wikipedia: "Heronsball" ). The same principle also rotates this floating top.
A candle brings the water in the copper tube coil to boiling, steam propels off at the ends, producing a recoil, condenses again and pulls new water into the pipe. This process is repeated several times per second , and for as long as the heat is sufficient!
The kit includes a cork disc of 80 x 10 mm with pre-drilled holes, a spiral copper tube bending tool for pipe ends (candle not included) with legs and annealed one. Construction time: approximately 15 minutes.
